Creating Your Own Coffee

By Adam Martineller

Those who are addicted to coffee would definitely agree that the best coffee they'll ever have is the one that perfectly suits one's taste. One can only get to taste this perfect coffee if he or she creates the coffee of his or her own. But do you want to know the answer to the question: how do you brew the best coffee? Your query can finally be answered because in this article, you'll find tips for brewing coffee at home.

First and foremost, you must get the freshest coffee beans. If you don't know what coffee beans to get, you can ask the barista from your favourite coffee shop on what type of coffee beans they use for your usual coffee. It is recommended that you get the beans from a local roaster and get those one that are packed and sealed to maintain freshness.

Once you get your hands on the perfect beans, you have to gather all the other equipment that you'll need for brewing. These include the kettle, chemex, filter paper, and cups.

Next, you have to boil water. It really doesn't matter how much water to boil at this point because you'd still be using the chemex to create the coffee.

Once the boiling is done, you can already begin grinding the coffee beans. You have two options on how to grind the coffee; either through an electronic grinder or one that's hand-operated.

Now, you have to fold the filter paper in half and in half again to form a cone and then you place it in the neck of the chemex. You have to pour some hot water on the filter paper to remove any paper flavour, and allow this water to drain entirely and pour it out. At this point, it is best to check if the filter is securely sealed against the wall of the cone.

You then place six tablespoons of the ground coffee into the filter paper. You now get the boiled water and pour a small amount of water over the grains, enough to saturate all the grounds evenly but also being cautious enough to not pour too much. You let this mixture sit still for about 20 seconds.

Once you're done waiting, you can pour the remaining water slowly and steadily. What you want to achieve here is for all the water to get through the carafe in just three minutes time. You also pour water on the sides of the filter just to remove all the remaining ground coffee up until the water reaches the top of the cone.

After all the poured water has passed through the filter, you can now remove the filter paper and taster your freshly-made coffee! So that's just how to brew the best coffee at home by following the above coffee brewing guide.
