How To Pick The Best Weekender Bags

By Lynn Beard

A spontaneous trip out of town for the weekend may require certain luggage where you hit the road pretty quickly and still keep all the essentials. These things are usually small and compact, well suited for short trips. Before taking that much needed mini vacation or crucial business trip, take time to consider the type of weekender bags you would like to take with you.

The personal style of the owner is an important factor in choosing, not to mention the reason for the trip. Classy businessmen are not likely to use the same backpacks travel weary hikers use, nor are the hikers bringing suitcases up the mountain path. The bag must suit the occasion well.

As an example, picture a visit to the wilderness. It can involve fishing or camping or even both. For this trip, it would be most appropriate to bring along a backpack that can be utilized to its fullest capacity. It would greatly help if it was weatherproof, waterproof and capable of carrying extra items with the use of straps.

Air travel can also be unavoidable in certain trips. Take note that on planes, it is usually possible for passengers to bring at least one carry on item. It is customary for most airlines to allow this. A practical reason for this would be baggage cost reduction. Get a bag that is capable of carrying at least two or more outfits and perhaps a few extra things you may need.

In order to save space inside their luggage, some of the savvy passengers are prone to hiding their laptops inside large carry ons. This also works with keeping them safe and secure since it is not out of the question for some airlines to misplace luggage. Wheeled bags are also recommended for easier travels along airports.

As far as the size and the shape is concerned, that area is largely dominated by the personal taste of the buyers themselves. The majority are made to be small and lightweight, for the purpose of easy handling. There are those who prefer simple hand carry duffel bags and then there are others who prefer more rigid ones to keep their belongings properly organized.

There is also a distinct price range between models. Lower quality models will no doubt cost significantly less in comparison to those designer made models. The smaller and cheaper ones are actually better suited for short trips during the weekend as opposed to long, extended journeys. In that case, bulkier and sturdier models are needed.

One more thing to consider is the easy identification. Picture yourself in an airport sometime after the plane has landed, the bags will now be released to the passengers. There are at least half a dozen black ones including your own. A unique or distinct bag will be far easier to identify. Another piece advice would be to dress it up so to speak so that you will be able to recognize it easily.

To sum it all up, weekender bags must be chosen for a variety of reasons. The level of appropriateness should be considered per occasion. The needs dictated by the journey must also be met. And finally, differentiation is important when faced with identical bags.
