Useful Information About Wisconsin Getaways

Wisconsin getaways are great in any season. Winter, Summer, Spring or fall there is a perfect weekend vacation that you and your family will enjoy. With its many lakes, Wisconsin is a perfect for boating, swimming or fishing. In the winter, when the lakes freeze over, many people enjoy ice skating and ice fishing.

One of the most popular tourist spots is Door County. Door County is well known for its delicious sweet cherries. Door County is a peninsula that juts out onto Lake Michigan from Green Bay. It almost feels like a seaside ocean resort. A number of state parks can be found on the peninsula. The lighthouses are favorite spots to visit. Make sure to enjoy the spectacular fish boils.

The north woods part of the state is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts. Eagle River is one the best fishing spots with lakes loaded with walleye, musky and bass. In the fall, the vibrant colors of the autumn leaves will leave you breathless. You do not have to be an experienced fisherman, the local expert guides will have you catching a ton of fish in no time.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin in Spring Green is a perfect field trip. There is also a wonderful outdoor theater nearby that puts on professional productions of Shakespeare. There are micro breweries, art galleries, cheese factories and wonderful restaurants too. The entire family will enjoy a day trip to Spring Green.

For those who love golf, Lake Geneva offers some first class greens. It is a short drive from the Chicago area. There are steam ship rides, a great renaissance fair, concerts and casinos. There is something for everybody in the Lake Geneva area.

Madison, the state capitol, is home of the University of Wisconsin. Of course, it has a reputation for being a party town and this reputation is deserved. States Street is filled with quaint shops, taverns, sidewalk cafes, and restaurants. Some of the best ice cream in the world is made in Madison, along with bratwurst, cheese, and beer. Madison is known for its blues music clubs. The Memorial Union Terrace is a favorite spot for partying in the summer.

The most popular state park is Devil's Lake in Baraboo. This is a bottomless lake surrounded by high rocky cliffs that are perfect for rock climbing. Swimming, hiking, fishing, and rock climbing are fun things to do here. The native Americans who lived here hundreds of years ago believed that this lake was enchanted. It is easy to see why.

These are just a few of the many fantastic Wisconsin getaways. Wisconsin has it all: hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, brat eating, beer drinking, plus cheese. The folks here are friendly and proud of their great badger state. It is a short drive to get here, with well maintained roads and first class hotels. If you need a place to get away to have some fun and relax, then you should put this on your list.
