Identifying The Worthier Prepaid Cell Phone And Prepaid Phone Minutes Plans

By Fred Heck

A few considerations one should ask oneself are the amount of phone usage they anticipate. You'll need to be reasonably accurate since it is a major factor in deciding which service makes the best sense. The first thing you should likely do is make note of the wireless minutes you'll be subject to both talking and receiving phone calls. If your phone usage is in a low to medium range a Net 10 phone or Tracfone prepaid phone might make economic sense.

Another question to ask, will this be an auxiliary Trac phone for emergencies and just short talks? How long will your average wireless call last. Is it going to be short or long-winded. If it's just with a friend for a short few minutes or will it be with a dear friend that could last a long time. Prepaid cell phones might dent your budget if you experience high usage.

Are you anticipation calling out of the country? Trac Phone is the only wireless carrier that allows you to call internationally (sixty countries) for the same price as any other call. Are you going to be calling often for 411 assistance? The 411 cost $1.50 each time it is used. The standard TracFone is going to get coverage almost anywhere in the country where a cellular signal is available and the signal is strong, so that is not a problem.

Are you a heavy wireless phone user? Are you busy taking weekends and after 9 PM? Or are there long periods of time where your wireless phone usage is scant? Prepaid cellular in the form a Net 10 phone or Tracfone prepaid phone service is more on the order for occasional use customers. Heavy users should take the plunge into 2-year contracts with their exorbitant activation and disconnect fees.

Tracfone prepaid phone airtime minutes carry over on plans, providing you recharge your cell phone every three months. Phones are simple to use and low in cost and the airtime units are an easy to understand system of billing. These phone tells you exactly how many minutes you have left so there are no surprises and you have ample time to recharge.

A new alternative comes from long time pay as you go wireless provider Tracfone prepaid phone minutes, the Straight Talk plan. This is a $30 a month plan with no contract that gives you 1000 minutes, 1000 SMS or MMS, and 30 megabytes of data. If you are in between plans and need to shop around without wanting to tie yourself into a stifling 2-year plan, this may offer a way out.

At a flat fee of 10 cents a minute, Net 10 is the company to look into if you need a cellphone for emergency or just occasional use. Their offer is excellent. Their logo is No contracts, No bills, No overages, No evil! Nice mantra to have in the age of price gauging Verizon deals that carry hidden activation fees, deactivation fees and long 2 year contracts. Ugh!

Net 10 minutes never expire as long as you keep the phone active. The activation date is shown right on your screen so you are never left in the dark. This is their fee schedule: 300 minutes and up to 60 days of service for $30 600 minutes and up to 90 days of service for $60 1,800 minutes and up to 6 months of service for $180 3,000 minutes and up to 1 year of service for $300 Minutes are deducted from your phone whenever you make or receive calls and the remaining minutes are posted right on the screen as well. You are always in the know. This is a very handy feature.

As far as which prepaid cell phones offer is better, it all depends on your anticipated usage. Net10 and TracFone have nearly the same rates. For longer anticipated usage Trac Phone fees cost less. If, however, you anticipate only sparse usage and not unforeseen long calls or, perhaps you only want the phone for emergency use, Net 10 makes the best sense.
